bits and pieces of thursday

hello first day of Autumn!

hello Autumn! today, thursday, september 22 signals autumn has arrived! at least on the calendar ...not so much outside. the humidity hangs heavy and clings to your skin, makes it feel as if its a struggle to breathe. windows and doors are shut tight, no clouds today and it appears as if rain may be heading our way...wow...what a surprise that would be. this summer was one of the wettest summers i can ever remember, im one of those people that lives in a house with a basement that leaks...my house is 90 years old and it has some aches and dysfunctions...but i love her anyway. i love her little foyer that is just big enough to step in and shake off the snow, throw your shoes in the wicker basket . i love her original hardwood doors and her fireplace against the south wall in the living room,  in the winter months she is brightly lit and you can smell the wood burn all through the house...and the crackling and hissing...i could lay on the couch all day in the winter with a good book and a fire going.

i love autumn! im so excited for chilly nights to warm my way into thick heavy blankets....and a day where i do nothing but lay on the couch with a good book, and sip hazelnut lattes.

but alas that is for a day down the road...not today...

today there is dusting to do and baskets of laundry to fold....

sheets to change and kittie litter to sweep up...

but someday soon.....

for now i will be content and wait on autumns breath.
