a nice time down at the river, boats on the water, and people everywhere.

autumn has definitely made herself be known. the trees are starting to turn already and the nights are pleasantly cooler.

tuesday is my mama's 91st birthday. every year she says the same thing, "This will probably be my last birthday." i just look at her and smile and tell her, "you say that every year".

truth is none of us know when our last day will come.

someone i grew up with last week took his dog for a walk, strolled 3 blocks, sat down, lit up a cigarette and died right there on the street. he just celebrated his 50th birthday not even a month before. just another reminder to enjoy the simple things in life and never miss an opportunity to let your family, friends know how much they are loved and appreciated.

it is so easy to think that we have all the time in the world, when in reality we don't.  and we need to make each day count.
